Victoria Carrington Election
"The Intellectual Property Constituency of ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) has just concluded its latest round of elections and Victoria has been elected to a two year term as one of the IPC's Officers. Victoria has participated extensively in the ICANN process and in particular, the activities of the IPC with Jonathan Cohen since its inception and is pleased to be able to contribute further by joining the Constituency's leadership.
The IPC is one of the six constituencies of ICANN's Generic Names Supporting Organization, each of which is comprised of a specific group of major stakeholders in the Internet domain name system, such as Commercial and Business interests, GTLD Registries, Internet Service and Connectivity Providers, Registrars and Non-Commercial interests.
The IPC represents intellectual property interests within the ICANN framework. Its purpose is to safeguard the interests of the international intellectual property community by analyzing the issues and policies emerging in the ICANN process and the domain name system that are of crucial significance to intellectual property owners and practitioners around the world, and to present the views and recommendations of the IP community to the GNSO Council and the ICANN Board. The members of the IPC consist of the major international and national intellectual property organizations, as well as a diverse spectrum of intellectual property industry organizations, corporate and law firm members and interested individuals."
