Robert Wilkes
1935 - 2007
The late Robert A. Wilkes, after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Chemistry, from the University of London, England, Mr. Wilkes worked as a research chemist for four years until he joined the Patent Department of a major British multinational corporation. He entered private patent practice in Canada in 1974. A registered Canadian and United States Patent Agent, Mr. Wilkes has for over twenty-seven years been responsible for patent applications and prosecutions in all major Patent Offices worldwide. In 1976 he was awarded the J. Edward Maybee Special Prize by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada marking the 50th Anniversary of the Institute.
Publications include two United Kingdom patents and one U.S. patent (as inventor) and papers published in the I.P.I.C. Bulletin, Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society, Journal of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, Engineering Dimensions, and European Intellectual Property Review. His memberships included Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada since 1981, Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle, Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriete Industrielle, Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (U.K.), Patent and Trademark Office Society (USA).
