Ian Goodman attended a combined Bachelor of Law and Juris Doctor program offered by the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy and graduated with an LL.B. degree and J.D. degree in 2006.  He joined Shapiro Cohen as an articling student and remained with the firm after being admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 2007.

Before law school, Ian obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology, specializing in Cell Biology and Genetics, from the University of British Columbia.  After graduation, he worked as a technician in an electron microscopy and imaging facility, where he trained others in the use of scanning electron microscopes.

During law school, Ian summered at a U.S. patent firm where he gained experience in U.S. patent prosecution.  Ian now assists clients in preparing and prosecuting Canadian and U.S. patent applications.

Ian is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
