Christine St. Denis' main focus is on the registration of trade-marks, licensing and the protection of those assets in opposition proceedings. A registered trade-mark agent and partner in Shapiro Cohen, she has been actively involved in the development of the firm over the last 30 years.
Christine represents a variety of clients ranging from start-ups to established companies in many areas of business, including the financial, cosmetic, machinery, tobacco, alcohol, food supplements, software, internet based and entertainment sectors.
She has served on the Joint Liaison committee with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), and was an Examiner and ultimately Chair of the Canadian Trade-marks Examination Board during the years 2001 to 2006. Christine takes a practical approach to intellectual property matters. This involves many factors including analyzing a client’s portfolio, their budget and business strategy in order to determine the best cost effective manner to protect their IP rights. She believes that a good strategy is essential to allow the client to pursue its activities in the knowledge that its overall business plans have been considered.
In her personal life, she is an avid curler and enjoys cottage life on the Rideau Lakes when getting away from it all.
