Domain Name

Your business has no limitation, why should your IP protection?

The Internet provides virtually limitless opportunities for your ideas, your business and your good name to transcend the boundaries of traditional commerce. But if you have not taken steps to protect your intellectual property in cyberspace, then the same limitless opportunities may be seized by others to profit from your valuable trade-marks and IP - anywhere and everywhere in the world. If problems do arise, depending on where they are, solving them can be costly. Are you willing to take that risk?

Shapiro Cohen has been involved in the ongoing development of Internet and Domain Name System (DNS) governance and domain name dispute resolution for over a decade. Our Senior Managing Partner, Jonathan Cohen served on the Boards of ICANN and CIRA and participated in the drafting of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) which now applies to disputes involving all .com/.net/.org domains anywhere in the world. He was instrumental in the formation of the Intellectual Property Constituency (IPC) within ICANN, and served as its first President and Names Council representative before being elected to the ICANN Board. Victoria Carrington, also a partner at the firm, has worked with Jonathan for over ten years in ICANN and domain name matters, including serving as an Officer of the IPC and a Names Council representative. She advises and represents clients around the world in dispute policy proceedings and negotiated domain name transfers from cybersquatters.
